Florida’s “Nature Coast” is comprised of nearly one million acres of rivers, dense forests and prairies, making it a destination for hiking, cycling, fishing, kayaking and many more outdoor activities.

The Nature Coast is located on the west coast of central to north Florida and is made up of 8 counties, starting south at Pasco county and ended in northern Florida at Wakulla county.

Citrus County, home to Crystal River, Homosassa, Inverness and Floral City, is known as the gem of the nature coast. Watered by seven spring driven rivers and abundant in lush forest, Citrus County may be Florida’s most natural attraction.

Known as the “Manatee Capital of the World”, Citrus County is home to both the Crystal and Homosassa River. Both these rivers are spring fed and perfectly clear, attracting hundreds of these gentle giants in the cooler months.

Also known for a number of state parks, wildlife management areas and archeological sites, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

If golf is more desirable, don’t fret. There are several golf courses scattered throughout Citrus County, including Inverness Golf and Country Club located just 13 minutes north of Tarawood, known to be a premier course in the county.
